Milan, Italian capital of flight

Invito

Opening – Saturday, April 11, 2026 – 10:00 AM

A new museum section dedicated to the city of Milan and its central role in the history of Italian aviation will open to the public on Saturday, April 11.
At the heart of the exhibition, visitors will be able to admire a stunning scale model of the Duomo di Milano, built at 1:25 scale by the craftsmen of Swissminiatur, the Melide-based park partnering in the initiative, and recently restored after damage caused by hail. Weighing over 700 kg, the miniature of the cathedral measures more than 6 meters in length and 4 meters in width, and rises to over 4 meters in height, crowned by the iconic Madonnina.
Surrounding this beautiful centerpiece—meticulously painted to recreate the shades of Candoglia marble—visitors will discover stories, anecdotes, and personalities that have made Milan renowned in the world of aviation.
The area, created with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan, will be inaugurated by Councillor for Public Housing Fabio Bottero, the President of Volandia Marco Reguzzoni, and the Director of Swissminiatur Joel Vuigner.
The event is open to the public and does not require registration. Those interested in attending can download the Invitation and present it at the ticket office to access the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
